Morganite is a type of rose beryl mineral. It was discovered in 1920 in Madagascar. One of the largest specimens was found in 1989 in Maine.
Morganite is unique in that it glows a fluorescent red when exposed to x-rays. When not exposed to x-rays, morganite’s natural color is usually a pale pink or orange.
