As the Hulk rages through Texas, he interrupts a couple’s romantic picnic. Suddenly, he starts to revert back to Bruce Banner. Banner realizes that the gamma rays must have finally worn off and he is now cured of turning into the Hulk.
Banner manages to convince pilot Spad McCracken to fly him back to the Gamma Base in New Mexico. When they land, only a single person comes to the airstrip to greet them. As the person leads Banner and McCracken to the lab, they notice that everyone is in a zombie-like trance. When they enter the lab, they discover that Doc Samson and General Ross are being held as prisoners.
